Texas Holdem Rules

Learning how to play with Texas Holdem is not difficult and can be done in a matter of minutes. This game can be played online or at tournaments. So, learning the rules to this game can be beneficial for you and your bankroll. The point of the game is to create the best-ranking hand in online poker. Texas hold ’em is played in five rounds using a standard 52 card deck.

The game starts with you receiving two-hole cards. Then in the next three rounds, there will be community cards that are being dealt. In total, five community cards will be dealt.  A winning hand can include your two-hole cards and three community cards or one-hole card as well as a community card. You will also be allowed to create a hand using only the community cards.

Should all players apart from one player fold, then that particular player will be the one to win. They will not have to show any of their cards. However, if there are two or more players that after the last community card has been dealt, then the pot will go to the player with the best-ranking hand.

How Do You Play Texas Hold Em

Now that you have read the rules, it’s time to get into playing Texas Holdem Poker. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to play the game at top casinos sites.

1. Button

The button is a rotating dealer, which allows for each player to act as the dealer for a hand. This roll is passed around the table from the dealers left. The game will also start on the dealers left and move clockwise around the table. The button also indicates which player has to make the small and big blind. This is commonly found at land-based casinos live casino games.

2. Blinds

With each hand in the game, two blinds need to be made. Blinds are the compulsory bets that open up betting in the game. There is a small and big blind. The player on the left of the dealer is the one who has to make the small blind. The player who is directly on the left of the player who made the small blind will have to pay the big blind.

The big blind is essentially twice the amount of the small blind. Once these two bets have been made, other players can place their bets.

3. Pre-flop

This is the first betting round in the game. The round will begin as soon as you have been dealt your two-hole cards. The player who is sitting on the left of the player who made the big blind will be the first one to play. This player can either raise call or fold.

4. Flop

This is the second betting round where the first three community cards will be dealt. This will be done after the dealer has burnt a card. These cards are dealt face-up, and the players who will be taking part in this round are those who have not folded in the preflop.

Again, this round will start with an active player on the left of the button. In this particular round, a check option is added, and you can either raise, call or fold.

5. Turn

In this betting line, a fourth community card will be added to the table. It will also be dealt face up. Before this card is dealt, the dealer will burn a card, and all betting will begin once this card has been dealt.

6. River

Once again, the river will start with the dealer burning a card then the fifth community card will be dealt face up. Once this is done, another round of betting will happen, and all active players will have an opportunity to either check, raise, call, bet or fold. This round is also called the 5th Street.

7. The Showdown

If there are any remaining active players from the river, the showdown will commence. In this round, the remaining players will display their whole cards. The player who was the last one to bet or raise in the river round will be the first one to display their cards. A winner will then be determined depending on which player holds the best-ranking hand.
