The Wynn Boston Harbor resort is under construction. The executives at Wynn Resorts met up with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission to give them an update on the development. However, since the developments and the investigation into the founder’s sexual harassment claims, the execs are considering rebranding the casino resort.
Steve Wynn resigned in February as the CEO and Chairman of Wynn Resorts. The company announced soon after that they had come to an agreement and understanding with Mr Wynn to notify him in writing should they decide to stop using the Wynn name. According to Robert DeSalvio, they are considering a name change for the Boston resort.
Wynn Boston Harbor Construction
Last year, Wynn Resorts got a go-ahead from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental protection to begin with construction. The Resort is scheduled to open next year in 2019. It is estimated that the casino resort will cost about $2.4 billion.
There are speculations that the company will change the name to Encore Boston Harbor. However, the company itself has not mentioned any specific names that they are considering.
In the past, the resort was not thinking of rebranding because of the fact that it was a well-known brand in the casino industry. However, the brand is associated with Steve Wynn, and it also uses his signature as the company logo. It is understandable that they would consider a name change because of the negative press that the name is picking up of late.
Steve Wynn’s Sexual Harassment Allegations
A Wall Street Journal journalist published an article stating that a lot of females were sexually assaulted by Steve Wynn. The employees are current female staff at the resort and former employees. One of the victims stated that she made efforts to report the incidents to the head of HR with no luck. At the moment, the allegations and the man himself are under investigation for the said claims.
